Race for the Future
The 18th Annual Race for the Future 5K Run/Walk and Kids Dash to benefit the Lee's Summit Educational Foundation and the Carrie Foresee Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held Sat. Oct. 11, 2014. The race begins at 8 a.m. Here are some details about this year's Race:
RACE RESULTS: Each 5K participant will be assigned a specific bib number with attached timing chip. The bibi is to be worn in the front of the participant's shirts. The disposable bib number/chip system is extremely accurate and will quickly provide race results.
DREAM PARTNER: Do you wish you could participate, but you already have plans on Race Day? Register to be a "Dream Partner" and you will still receive a special Race t-shirt showing your support for students.
KID'S DASH: Kid's Dash for children up to 6th grade begins on the track at the conclusion of the 5K Run/Walk (typically between 8:45 and 9 a.m.). Children will run in groups with like-age kids. The oldest children will run approximately 200 meters (half lap). The youngest children will run approximately 50 meters. All participants will receive a participation ribbon.
R-7 CHALLENGE: A friendly competition is held each year for students and staff in the Lee's Summit R-7 schools. The top two schools with the highest percentage of staff and students participating in the 5K win a $500 grant and a traveling trophy from LSEF.
5K AWARDS: Awards will be given to the overall male and female winner and to the top three male and female winners in the following age groups: Up to 14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 and over.
